Rose Williams.
PAINTINGS FROM GLOUCESTERSHIRE and the SOUTH WEST!

Colours have always been fascinating to me -I love to see them in fields, woods, hills and coast. It`s just lovely when you are in the countryside and you see such a wealth of different tones gelling together making up a coloured picture just waiting to be reproduced for that all important wall, to enjoy all year round. I am so lucky to live in Gloucestershire and have access to the Severn Vale and the Cotswolds  also to the South West Coast and the Isles of Scilly it gives me so much scope to paint a diversity of scenes.

Influences and Style.

Has to be the Impressionists
"Brushstrokes and Colour."

Why Heritage?
A keen member of the National Trust and English Heritage.

  • I believe in promoting the environment and the wildlife that exists in it and I tend to paint for the moment -even in 30years time that scene or animal might not be there preserving what we have for future generations.!

SPARROWS - Just had to paint these -they are on the decrease and their colours are amazing once you really look.
HARES and HAY BALES - You don`t see many hay bales now they are mainly in plastic sheets -the hare is a bonus-great to see. As well as being able to express my feelings in paintings I have been really lucky that some local farmers,
and residents have allowed the emergence of a " Heritage Apple Trail," in the parish comprising of 30 old varieties that used to grow in this area but no longer. They are planted by a footpath for all to enjoy.

Why do I call myself "Coloursfresh on Canvas"

One very good reason for this is that people always comment on my paintings saying "The Colours are so Fresh," so painting on deep boxed canvases it just had to be "Coloursfresh on Canvas." bringing Heritage to your home!

My " Hopes and Aspirations."

That I continue to explore the beauty of our heritage around us and that it keeps my eyes open to many more designs in the future. I hope too I can share these paintings with you at some time -it would be a real privilege for me! My final aspiration would be that these designs keep our minds ticking over -that we need to look after our countryside, plant more wildflowers to encourage more wildlife as it used to be-it`s not tomorrow -it`s now - so they say!

How long have I been painting?

I studied art and history before becoming a primary school teacher then went on to teach art at senior school. My style has developed over the years to what you see today. I now enjoy adult and children`s workshops based at my studio in Gloucetsershire and I hope I have an influence on people.

When do I paint?

All year round - colours are changing all the time and as the skies change so do the colours creating shadows, reflections, and for ever changing moods.
